THIS WEEK IN SENIOR SCHOOL!

 

Congratulations to two of our senior students who competed and placed in a reading competition at the American Corner, Ibadan. In a reading and review of Michelle Obama's book "Becoming," students were judged on audibility, correct pronunciation, intonation, and overall presentation and delivery. Out of about 16 students, Jewel placed 3rd and Judea placed 1st! Thanks for an outstanding job representing American Christian Academy, girls! We are so proud of you!

GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS!

Ballet Club will hold from June 1-June 28 (Saturday classes) providing 6 hours as follows: Group 1:10:00-11:30, Group 2: 11:30-1:00, Group 3: 1:00-2:30 (one and half hour classes to make-up lost classes). In all, Ballet club is providing more than 10 classes this semester. (Feb 9 – Mar 9 + June 9 – June 28 + Free classes for CLAM Festival) Ballerinas will perform at Closing Assembly, June 28th.

May 25: Middle School Excursion to Terra Kulture! To celebrate Children’s Day, Middle School students will be visiting Terra Kulture on Victoria Island, Lagos to watch a stage play entitled “Adio” (A Tale of Time). The ticket price is N4,000. Students may pay to their class teachers on May 20th if they have not done so already. Students may bring lunches and bottles of water or bring along some money (at least N1,500) to buy their food. The bus leaves ACA by 6:00am.

May 27: * Creche and Pre-Nur parents meeting, Monday 8:15-9:00am in the Music Room. Recap of this year, Q&A, and upcoming plans for next year, etc.

* The Bird Club and Go Green Club members will be attending a Children's Day celebration at IITA, Monday, May 27th.

Some of the activities of the day include tree-planting and bird-watching. Students will leave ACA campus by 7:45am and return by 1:30pm.

May 28: * ACA will be celebrating Children’s Day on Tuesday and everyone is free to wear MUFTI! Class pictures for Elementary School (1st-6th grades) will be taken this day, so NO UNIFORMS!

* Pre-Kg Field Trip to Agodi Gardens - departure: 11:00 am, return: 2:15 pm.  Parents who want to send hot lunch should send it to school before 11am.  Those with ACA school lunches will have take away packs.

* Kg Cultural Display, Tuesday, from 12:00-1:00pm in Mr Elijah’s class. Kg parents are invited. Thank you, in advance for coming to showcase and learn about the unique cultures available in Nigeria.

* Standardized sample practice tests - 6th Grade

* International Day raffle tickets and T-shirts available for sale.

May 29: Public Holiday - Inauguration Day. NO SCHOOL!

12th grade- SENIOR PICTURES photo-shoot off-campus within Ibadan.

May 30: * Pre Kg & Kg Parents & Admin Meeting, Thursday 8:00-9:00am in the Music Room. Recap of this year, Q&A, and upcoming plans for the end of year and next year, etc.

* Final deadline for 4th Quarter fees.  (Defaulters should stay home from Friday to avoid children being sent home)

* Standardized tests–6th grade students.

May 31: * 6th–11th grade parents meeting on Friday from 12:45pm-1:35pm in the Music Room to share information from this year and discuss plans for next year.  It is important for at least one parent per family to attend!

GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

May 18: *Saturday IGCSE B.St class from 9:00 am – 11:00 am at ACA.

* Hindi Club students will be going to IITA on Saturday to celebrate Shrushti and to say ‘goodbye’ as her family is relocating.

* USA Cup soccer practice every Saturday from 9:00am-11:00am, except on “Environmental” days, when soccer will be from 10:00am-12:00pm

* Ballet Club: The Ballet teacher has traveled out of the country for two weeks. The next Ballet class will hold on June 1, 2019.

Group 1: 10:00-11:30, Group 2: 11:30-1:00, Group 3: 1:00-2:30 (one and a half hour classes to make-up lost classes)

May 20-24: SCHOOL PICTURE WEEK!

* Students are expected to dress in nice mufti outfits on the day they are scheduled to have their individual picture taken.

Please see the photo-shoot schedule sent home with your child on Friday.

* Practice and Actual Standardized tests–7th grade students.

* Nursery Field Trip: Students in Nursery have been learning about animals and their young in Science class and to make the topic more interesting and engaging for children, they will be going on a field trip to the Zoological Garden at the University of Ibadan on Friday, May 24, 2019. Departure: 10:00am.
